Updates to 'Houston Favorites'

After a little hiatus, it's time for the first quarterly update of my Top 50 Houston restaurants (just click on the 'Houston Favorites' tab for the full list). To be included on the list, I have to have eaten there at least twice, including once in the last two years.

There are 3 new additions for this update:

Vinoteca Poscol (chef Marco Wiles' intimate spot for wine and Italian small plates)

Pi Pizza (gourmet pizza joint in the Heights)

Niko Niko's (a Montrose landmark back on the list due to a new west side location that's way easier for me to get to...which means I go more often...)

The 3 places taken off the list to make room are:

Great W'Kana Cafe (the original Stafford location seems to have closed...it looks like there may be a new one open, but haven't found or tried it yet)

Republic Diner (Korean-ish spot in the Heights that has rebranded yet again as a Noodle House...haven't tried the new version yet)

Uyghur Bistro ('temporarily' closed...this one's a bummer because I liked to brag about having a Uyghur restaurant down the street - not everybody can say that. Literally. It's really hard to say "Uyghur".)

I'll also mention a couple of particularly promising newcomers that I fully expect to find a spot on this list as soon as I have time to go back and confirm my first impressions: Theodore Rex and Nobie's. Both were the subject of enthusiastic posts after initial visits in the last couple of months...

That's it for tonight. Let me know what you'd like me to write about at hungrydadblog@gmail.com.
